Gold Cuvée is on sale at the VOM FASS concessions in Selfridges. It’s a sparkling white wine produced with pinot and has real, edible 22 carat gold flakes!

How goldly giddy!

We say: No we didn’t - but we are beyond sold.

Sushi Vin is a new white wine developed to be eaten specifically for sushi, it’s a blend of Chardonnay, Malvasia Bianca and Muscat with a fruity aroma that goes well with rice and fish. The wine is available in Brazil (Sao Paulo itself has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan). The manufacturer is Vinicola Valmarino. Well if Pasta Wine can be a hit why not this? We are going to start special niche product posts from now on. 

Fosters has introduced Yellowglen Pink sparkling rosé to the UK on-trade for the first time in a new 200ml size bottle known as a Pink Piccolo. The Pink Piccolo is a sparkling rosé blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, produced at the Yellowglen Winery in south-eastern Australia. It will be sold in upmarket bars, restaurants, pubs and hotels with a recommended retail price of GBP4.95.

Volute Wine is packaged in a lightweight, eco friendly aluminum bottle. The company chose to use aluminum not only because it brings qualities identical to glass, but it also protects the wine from light. Aluminum is also ecologically more responsible since it’s infinitely recyclable, unbreakable and generates less transportation related pollution due to its lower weight. We are long time fans of the Swedish Blossa Glögg brand, so we were happy to see their new limited edition bottle for 2008 is a great addition to their annual range. Substance Winery from Washington adopts an interesting method of categorizing and branding their wines - in the form of a periodic table of wine. Its effect is bold, simple and accessible.  We love it. They have just extended their line with 3 White Wines - Ch 2007 Chardonnay, Pg 2007 Pinot Gris and Re 2007 Riesling. Packaged in 750ml glass bottles with the customary abbreviations. Check out their uber cool website too.

Domaine Chandon is collaborating with DKNY for their 20th anniversary to create a special sparkling twenty year Cuvée.  The bottle features a DKNY-designed label with New York skyline imagery and will b given to all 800 attendees of DKNY’s show during New York’s Fashion Week on 7 September.
